A little while back, Igor climbed Mt. Whitney and took a picture at the top. Here is a brief synapsis:
“We spend the first night at the Outpost camp at 10,300 on Friday night. We did summit push on Saturday starting at 7:30am. “
“I got to high camp and was rested and mentally prepared by the time Sylvain (co-climber) came. I handed him my filter and wanted to get on the trail before the sun got any stronger.”

As part of the Product Solutions team at Mediaplex, I have gained many valuable insights regarding best practices to follow when using the MOJO Adserver system. The following is one example of a tip I often share with clients to make our already user friendly reporting even easier. Always name your campaigns, placements, and creatives with a relevant and obvious naming scheme.

Benefits:
1) This will allow you to more easily differentiate one campaign, placement, or creative at a glance. Especially, if you intend to pull files in CSV/TSV formats.
2) It opens a reporting dimension for alternative selections. MOJO Analytic Reports allow up to three dimensions in reports (4 if you include the dimension of time). When you include the site name in your placements selecting a placement as a dimension in reports will allow you to see the site name and the placement name from this single dimension.
For example, if you want to see performance metrics by site, placements, targeting directives, and creative in your report, set your dimensions as placement, targeting directive, and creative. Since your placements have the site name referenced, you will have all four dimensions (or 5 with the time dimension).
3) There is greater flexibility in the values filtered for in Advanced Filters (http://blog.mediaplex.com/2010/08/02/using-advanced-reporting-filters/) of MOJO Analytic Reports. Instead of filtering on a value based on generic names, you now have the option to filter on more elements based on the content of your naming convention. In the case where you would like to see the performance metrics for all placements and creative size, 728×90, you could filter on the placement value 728×90 and the creative value 728×90 because your placement and creative naming convention includes the size.
Your MOJO Charts tab provides you four graphical representation of your campaigns’ performance. This provides a high level overview to different performance dimensions. Each chart can be updated based on preconfigured reports. Did you know that you can customize the performance metrics reported in your Charts for even more insight?
Here’s how:
1. Create an Analytics Campaign Performance report.
Note: The X and Y variables shown on the chart will be based on the first dimension and first metric that are displayed in the report’s output. If you wish to display date or time trending, select a trend value in the Dimensions section of the Campaign Performance Template.
2. Navigate to the dashboard.
3. Locate the Charts area.
4. Click the Update link associated with the currently displayed you wish to replace.
5. Select the name of the previously-created report template you wish to display as a custom from the Name drop-down menu.
6. Select one of the following types of chart you wish to display from the Type drop-down menu.
- Line
- Bar
- Pie
- Area
- US Map
- World Map
7. Click the Submit button to save the changes and display the chart or click the Cancel button to cancel the changes.
MOJO builds the custom chart and displays it on the dashboard. Repeat this process if you wish to replace the other default chart on the dashboard as well. If you wish to restore the dashboard with the graphs that displayed before changing the settings, you must go back and manually re-select these graphs.
MOJO Charts display according to the user profile that selected the Chart settings. If you would like your colleagues to have access to the custom charts you have create
- MOJO admin users can create and save the analytics report in MOJO Adserver.
- The report must be shared with all agency users.
- Your colleagues can then update their Charts with the shared analytics report.

Reporting is an essential feature of any ad serving solution, but are you getting the most out of your reporting?
Within the MOJO Adserver analytics (templated) reports there are many reporting options that allow advertisers to “slice and dice” the performance data. These templated reports allow advertisers to pinpoint the most relevent data such as choosing the dimensions of the report, selecting the metrics, column order, as well advanced filters. The advanced filters is the area I want to focus on.
The advanced filters are one feature that can bring value to anyone looking to pinpoint specific data and be alerted to that data. For example, an agency might want to highlight campaigns which are performing well.

Advertisers and agencies may also want to keep on top of the running costs of their placements. The advanced filters are a good way to pinpoint placements that might be going over their budget or not delivering enough.
The advanced filters are located on the “other settings” tab in the analytics reports. See Screenshot Below.

If you have any questions about this functionality, please let your account manager know and we would be happy to share our best practices.
