Derek is a marketer who hates wasting budget on ineffective marketing. Throughout his career, which included game-changing Silicon Valley businesses like LongJump, Silicon Gaming, Motorola (Symbol Technologies) and CA (Cendura), as well as consulting for Oracle (Sun Microsystems) and IBM, he’s looked for ways to maximize limited marketing budgets, and often had to execute entire efforts as a one man show. In this process, he’s learned best practice approaches to building compelling campaigns and optimizing every marketing dollar. That meant building on traditional marketing like branding and advertising from scratch, as well as search marketing, email campaigning, and content marketing.Derek began his career as a technical writer and communications specialist and has always had a soft-spot for complex technology looking to connect to visionaries. He graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in English.
